Twenty-two years ago, the film The Roses Seller was released, which focuses on the life of a young woman who lives surrounded by an environment of abuse and drug addiction and who tries to get ahead selling roses. The filming was carried out in Medellín and had the participation of young people who lived in a situation similar to that of the story. After starring in the movie the roses seller, the actors were imprisoned, suffered from illnesses or even died.

Her mother has passed away, and when she seeks refuge with her relatives, she is almost sexually abused. She has nowhere to go but finds a group of girls in the same situation. Lady Tabares the woman who played Monica is 38 years old and lives in Medellín.

After the film, she returned to the streets to sell roses and received support from the Colombian audiovisual media to continue acting. However, her fate changed for her when she was accused of participating in a murder, an accusation for which she was sentenced to 26 years in prison. She always pleaded not guilty, and, in 2014, after 12 years of being detained, she received the benefit of house arrest.

However, after going through many needs, she returned to the capital of Antioquia. She is currently 35 years old and lives with her eight-year-old son.
